Among the Mexican Handicrafts , the clay pineapples from San José de Gracia stand out and these Michoacán Handicrafts are one of the most representative within Mexican Popular Art .
The Indigenous Community of San José de Gracia is located in the Municipality of Tangancícuaro , in western Michoacán and has gained fame thanks to its famous clay pineapples.
The way these clay pineapples are made has evolved, here we present a brief review of our visit.
To make their creations, the artisans must follow a process in which the clay is dried, which must be suitable for molding. Once the lump is dry, it must be ground until it is a fine powder, mixed with water looking for have a solid texture and knead it, letting it rest for 2 or 3 days.
